Participation in any part of or all of the 2025 MercedesTrophy Tournament (being a Retailer Golf Day, National Final or World Final) (the “MercedesTrophy”), is subject to meeting the below eligibility criteria and acceptance of the tournament terms and conditions of play (“Tournament Conditions of Play”) which will be made available prior to the commencement of the MercedesTrophy.
General
1. The MercedesTrophy is a worldwide exclusive series of invitational golf tournaments conducted by Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”) and carried out by Mercedes-Benz New Zealand Limited (“MBNZ”) and authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailers.
2. Participation in the MercedesTrophy is by invitation only.
3. Participants are individuals who meet the eligibility criteria as set out below (“Participants”).
4. Participants must be invited by a Dealer Principal of a participating authorised Mercedes-Benz retailer to participate in a MercedesTrophy Retailer Golf Day (“Retailer Golf Day”).
5. The eligible placegetter(s) (as determined in accordance with the Tournament Conditions of Play) of each Retailer Golf Day of a participating authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer may then be invited by MBNZ to take part in the MercedesTrophy New Zealand Final (the “National Final”). The eligible placegetter(s) of the National Final (as determined in accordance with the Tournament Conditions of Play) may then be invited by MBAG to take part in the World Final (“World Final”).
6. The World Final of the MercedesTrophy is designed as a fun golf event which is held in Stuttgart, Germany. Participation in this event is by invitation only from the host, MBAG, of Germany. MBAG may invite up to three (3) Participants from New Zealand to take part in the World Final (as determined in accordance with the Tournament Conditions of Play).
Eligibility Criteria
7. Without in any way limiting these terms and condition, in order for Participants to be eligible to play in the Retailer Golf Day, National Final and/or World Final, certain criteria must be met. Participants must:
a) be over 18 years of age as at the date of participation in any of the MercedesTrophy events;
b) hold a current New Zealand Handicap registered with Golf New Zealand (DotGolf numbers must be provided upon registration in the MercedesTrophy events);
c) be an amateur golfer (as defined by The R&A Ltd and USGA http://www.randa.org/Amateur-Status/MainRules/1-Amateurism);
d) subject to clause 8 below, at the time of both the invitation and MercedesTrophy events (unless MBNZ agrees otherwise in its absolute discretion), be the registered owner and primary driver of a Mercedes-Benz passenger car or Mercedes-Benz van vehicle purchased from an authorised Mercedes-Benz retailer in New Zealand which comply with the following requirements:
i) the vehicle must be less than 4 years old from the date of registration as at 1 January 2025 (i.e. vehicles registered prior to 1 January 2021 will not qualify for eligibility); and
ii) only applies to vehicles which are new in New Zealand (i.e. not parallel import vehicles);
e) have not previously qualified for a MercedesTrophy National Final in New Zealand with the same vehicle (i.e. one National Final entry per VIN number, which for the avoidance of doubt means only one member of a family or household can qualify per vehicle);
f) only participate in one Retailer Golf Day per year;
g) have not participated in a MercedesTrophy World Final event. In the event a Participant has participated in a World Final, the following shall apply:
i) previous attendees of the World Final are eligible to participate in future National Finals; and
ii) in the event a previous attendee wins the National Final, the place at the World Final will be awarded to the next highest placed eligible Participant;
h) meet any eligibility requirements of the host golf club ensuring the health and safety of the public and all people involved;
i) for the National Finals, qualify at the applicable Retailer Golf Day in accordance with the Tournament Conditions of Play;
j) for the World Final, qualify at the National Final in accordance with the Tournament Conditions of Play and agree to any additional terms and conditions and doing all things reasonably required by MBAG; and
k) have confirmed acceptance of the invitation to the National Finals or World Final at time of offer by MBNZ. Delayed acceptance shall be considered a rejection of the offer.
8. For customers that have purchased a Mercedes-Benz relevant vehicle as:
a) Individuals or sole traders: Participants must be the registered purchaser or spouse of the registered purchaser;
b) Public or private companies: Participants must be a registered Director of the company, or the retailer-nominated purchaser/fleet contact; or
c) Trusts: Participants must be a beneficiary of the trust.
9. Participants who have previously taken part in a National Final may participate in the National Final once every four (4) years or sooner if a new vehicle is purchased which complies with the requirements at clause 7(d) and 7(e) above. Participants who have previously taken part in a MercedesTrophy World Final may not qualify for any future MercedesTrophy World Final events.
10. Ineligible participants may be invited to take part as a participant in a Retailer Golf Day but are not eligible to be considered for the MercedesTrophy, including the National Final and the World Final, and are unable to be placed.
11. Employees, their partners and associates of Mercedes-Benz and its related entities, employees of its authorised retailers, or its marketing partners are not eligible to compete in the MercedesTrophy, however in exceptional cases they may participate in a Retailer Golf Day without being eligible for the National Final.
12. Participants must play in accordance with and abide by the Rules of Golf as issued by The R&A Ltd & USGA effective 1 January 2019 together with the rules of the host golf club, and must meet any eligibility requirements of the host golf club and Golf New Zealand. Failure to do so may result in the participant not being eligible to take part in the MercedesTrophy events and/or result in disqualification.
General
13. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in these terms, if the MercedesTrophy is cancelled (in full or in part), cannot reasonably be held (in full or in part) or the Participant/Winner cannot reasonably attend due to circumstances outside of Mercedes-Benz’s reasonable control (including but not limited to):
a) an act of God, lightning, fire, storm, explosion, flood, landslide, peril of sea or air, bushfire, volcano or earthquake;
b) strikes or other industrial action whether in New Zealand or overseas;
c) an act of public enemy, war (declared or undeclared), terrorism, piracy, sabotage, blockade, revolution, riot, insurrection, civil commotion or any other domestic crisis;
d) travel restrictions or limitations of any kind which prevents or materially affects a Winner’s/Participant’s attendance at or ability to travel to or return from any MercedesTrophy event;
e) any act or omission of a wharf or port authority, a government authority or agency or a shipping or transportation company;
f) the effect of any change in applicable laws; and
g) an embargo or power shortage,
Mercedes-Benz will be entitled to cancel the MercedesTrophy (in full or in part) and/or not award any prize referred to herein without liability and shall not be obliged to compensate the Participant/Winner in any way.
Privacy
14. Mercedes-Benz collects personal information for the purposes of conducting the MercedesTrophy and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties (including but not limited to, its retailers, agents, contractors, service providers, offer suppliers and related companies) and for publicity purposed surrounding the MercedesTrophy. Participation is conditional on providing this information, which will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy available at www.mercedes-benz.co.nz
